Greyhound - 30 x 40cm Framed & Mounted Print

Moriz Jung was born on October 22, 1885 in Nikolsburg (current Mikulov) in the Austro-Hungarian Empire. He studied from 1901 to 1908 at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna, with professors Carl Otto Czeschka, Bertold Löffler (en), Felician Myrbach and Alfred Roller.

Through Roller, he collaborated on Ver sacrum (1903) then worked for the Wiener Werkstatte from 1907, producing numerous illustrations (posters, postcards, comics, lithographed prints). He collaborated in the signage and decoration of the Cabaret Fledermaus, notably executing the program booklet and a poster showing his talent as a caricaturist.

He also collaborated in the graphic design of numerous magazines (including Glühlichter), partly under the pseudonyms Nikolaus Burger (an allusion to his hometown) and Simon Mölzlagl.

Mobilized as a soldier, he died on March 11, 1915 on the Carpathian front, at Höhe Maniloowa near Lubné.
