Cat Coquilette Framed Art Prints
Cat Coquillette (pronounced Koh-kuh-let) is a Kansas City based illustrator, designer and lettering artist and is the face behind the design + illustration brand, CatCoq. Cat has spent the majority of her career as a graphic designer, with a passion for painting in watercolour, ink and gouache. Cat’s paintings typically combine bright pops of colour, clean brushwork, hand-lettering, and cover a broad variety of subjects though she has an affinity for painting animals, foliage, and intricate patterns.Cat double-majored in graphic design and illustration at The University of Kansas. Her projects gave her a well-rounded foundation: she learned the web, interactive, motion graphics, animation, branding, illustration, typography, ceramics, painting, and publication design. She also studied in Germany, focusing on infographics, photography, and type. Despite her time in Trier, she refers to her German as “nicht gut”.One of Cat’s favourite ways to get creatively recharged is through travelling. She incorporates her artwork into her travels whenever she can, capturing motifs with her camera and using the photos as reference when she’s painting in her studio. Some of her recent pieces are inspired by trips to Peru, Vietnam, The Philippines, Hawaii, Belize, Cambodia, Costa Rica, and the American Southwest. As a result, many of her pieces are inspired by the natural world.Cat lives as a digital nomad, hopping from city to city. She plans on spending the coldest months of the year in Northern Thailand and will return to the Midwest when it’s hot and balmy. She will always call Kansas City home.
